As the fight to save Olympic wrestling continues, the ancient tradition has been added to a short-list of sports campaigning to feature in the 2020 Olympic Games, alongside squash and baseball/softball.
With the ancient Olympic tradition strongly considered to have been wrongfully dropped by the Olympics in the first place, the sport now makes the 2020 shortlist, having progressed from an original list of 8 sports, following a vote by the International Olympic Committee executive board in Russia.
With each sport having given a 20-minute presentation to the IOC board, the final decision will be made by the IOC in September.
