World Series Of Fighting (WSOF) have today announced the cancellation of their next two shows in order to focus efforts on their New Year’s Eve, New York show in Madison Square Garden.

The decision to cancel both WSOF 34, which was scheduled to take place on November 12 in Loveland, Colorado and WSOF 35, slated for December 3 in Everette, Washington was first revealed on Monday’s “The MMA Hour” by WSOF president Ray Sefo.

Several of the bouts from these events, including Jake Shields vs. Jon Fitch for the Welterweight title, have not been cancelled but have been moved to the New York card at The Theater, MSG.

“After a few weeks of discussions, we decided to move our main event, which is Jon Fitch and Shields for that card, to our New Year’s Eve card in Madison Square Garden Theater,” Sefo announced. “And having Blagoi, who is our Heavyweight champion, was scheduled to headline our December show, get hurt last week, it kind of fell in place and we just decided to merge the two cards together and put on a bigger card for New York City.”

The New Year’s Eve card will feature three title bouts headlined by WSOF Lightweight champion Justin Gaethje defending his title against Brazilian fighter Joao Zefarino. The other two title bouts are the previously mentioned Shields vs. Fitch and Marlon Moraes, who’s opponent is still to be announced, will defend his WSOF Bantamweight belt.

WSOF will be the third Mixed Martial Arts promotion to hold an event in the state after Combate Americas this past weekend in Verona and UFC on November 12th at Madison Square Garden. It seems with the organisation’s efforts now completely focused on one year-ending mega show, MMA fans just found a new event to be excited about before the end of 2016.
