Interview Martin Ireland (DMI Images)
NAME: Leo Davis
ALIAS: DHALSIM (not Dollzim) pronounced DAL- SIM
AGE: 24
WEIGHT: 77kg Welterweight
TEAM: Independent fighter
CAMP: I train myself. I have however spent time at NWA and LIONS PRIDE.
My training changes for every fight hence the reason I don’t permanently reside at one gym. For example for this fight my training has consisted of a very holistic approach and I have doing a lot of things like yoga holding positions and working loads on my balance. I was not sure if I was going to say this but this fight is not going to the ground, not that I cant fight on the ground but I prefer to stand up.
Who are you facing??
Bill “SUPER” Beaumont
What do you know about your opponent??
Not much really. I know he’s from team Titan. I think I heard he is a boxer but I’m not sure really.
You previously fought joe cooper at a fury event in a fight that you took at short notice. this was your first amateur bout. how did this come about??
Ok with Joe it was a case of if I’m going to do this I’m going to throw myself in the deep end. Im not a person that likes to take some chump fight that I know im going to win, martial arts is my thing this is my sport, I did not play football, I did not play rugby I do not like cricket I do not like team sports full stop. I always did karate, I always did taekwondo, I did kickboxing under Andy Mayo.
Tell me what you think about fury mma?? what makes them different from all the other uk promotions??
FURY is a really, really really good promotion. I have looked at various promotions and but FURY gives me a really good vibe about them and this is why I have only fought for FURY. I have been approached by other promotions and have decided I only want to fight for FURY for now. They are a promotion that are growing and I feel not a lot of fighters show loyalty in this game. I’m like a banker when it come to this fight game (laughs) I watch the market and I am aware of most promotions that are available and to be honest FURY are the best that I have seen with the exception of the UFC and BAMMA in the UK. I find FURY have a very cool and clean image and are the No.1 show in London. They are very multicultural and represent all aspects of London life and culture. Maybe it’s a south thing and im a south boy (Laughs).
What can we expect on fight night??
A true display of martial arts, an art form, not just fighting but a true art form.
Whats your game plan??
Like Mike says “every body has a game plan until they get punched in the face” (laughs). Lucky for me I have a few plans, in fact I have many plans. The main plan is to smell the fear and seize on the day.
Anybody that caught your eye on previous fury events??
James Hannigan-Train he fought k1 at FURY 9 and was immense. He was completely focused on the task at hand and never took his eye off the fight.
If all goes well after fury 10 what next??
I am not looking past this fight at all and have Bill squarely in my vision. But since you are asking me that question, there is one guy that’s on my list. A guy that is in possession of the FURY WW title. Nathan “Bag N Tag” Jones. He’s on my list
Any words for your opponent??
Nope. See you Fury 10.
