On January 30, 2010, Melvin Manhoef made his anticipated Strikeforce debut against Robbie Lawler. Fireworks were expected and Manhoef appeared set on living up to his fearsome repuation as he picked up the pace in round 1 with heavy hands from all angles and leg shattering low kicks. Uncharacteristic of Lawler at the time, the American fought with a more reserved style, and despite having felt the power of Monhoef’s leg kicks, Lawler rallied through a noticeable limp to uncork a ruthless overhand right to KO Manhoef from out of nowhere.
