Chad Sugden will make his long awaited return to premier kickboxing organisation GLORY on April 3, as the promotion host GLORY 20 from Dubai at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Sugden (12-3) is considered as one of Britain’s best kickboxers, having dominated at national level since 2012: “I just signed a contract for GLORY 20 in Dubai. The deal came about because I think I’ve proven myself in some of my fights, fought all over the world in K-1 and also my last fight, last June against Nathan Epsom, dominated him over three rounds.”

“2Slick” also spoke about only fighting the best of the best, which he will continue to do when he clashes with Michael Wakeling on The Main Event in Birmingham on May 23, but the Newark fighter believes that right now GLORY is the place to be for any kickboxer with large aspirations.

“I’ve fought on K-1, when I fight Michael Wakeling that’s going to be the Enfusion world champion so I’m taking on the best in the world. GLORY is the highest level in kickboxing, the only rival to it is K-1, but I’m looking to fight on GLORY because I believe where the big purses are, that’s where the cash is and that’s what it’s about.

“As a professional fighter it’s not just about going in there and fighting for the love of it, it’s about going in there and doing as good as you can do but making money at the same time, because if you don’t make money it doesn’t make sense.”

The former UK K-1 Grand Prix 2012 8-man 70kg max, and ISKA K-1 72.3kg Intercontinental champion will step in the ring against Turkey’s Atakhan Arslan on the GLORY SuperFight Series undercard, however Sugden has refuted his opponent’s skillset as a threat.

“Atakan Arslan, I know he’s mainly thai boxer but he’s fought on GLORY before, he got beat on a very close fight against Jonatan Oliveira, I believe his style suits me perfectly I’m going to go in there an expose him. he looks strong he looks ripped but no body builder has ever been the best fighter in the world so its not about looking ripped its about doing what you do best and looking good in the ring, be as ripped as you want but when you get in there it’s a different story.”

“My style is different to anywhere in the world, mines not an English style, Eastern European style, American style, I like to think I’ve got the best of everything and im going to prove that on April 3.”

Trained by his father Dean Sugden at the renown Suggy’s Gym in Newark, England, 20 year-old Chad Sugden predicted he can go all the way to the top in GLORY, and represent Britain as world champion.

“It’s about time they came to me as well, I believe I’ve dominated the British scene for a while now, at 70kg people have avoided me. I’m going to prove I’m the best Britain has got to offer, and I believe that my style if anyone is going to be able to dominate on the world scene as much as anyone else.”

UK fans can watch Chad Sugden and Chi Lewis-Parry on the SuperFight Series on Eversport TV from 3:30pm on Friday, April 3.
