Paraguay has become the latest nation on a list of 37 countries to have united under the IMMAF banner spanning the Americas, Asia, Europe, Oceania and Africa.

The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) is pleased to welcome Paraguay as it is joined by the Federacion Paraguaya de Kick Boxing Muay Thai & MMA (FPKBMY Y MMA)

In an official statement, President Hugo Lobo said: “We are very happy to represent IMMAF. We have been a force for martial arts for many years within Paraguay and during that time we have been working to promote MMA. It is an honour that IMMAF has expressed confidence in our organisation.”

Originally founded in 1992 to represent kick boxing and Muay Thai, the Paraguayan federation extended to working with MMA in 2003. The Federacion Paraguaya de Kick Boxing Muay Thai & MMA is recognized by the President of Paraguay and also the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, with representatives in each of the mayoral cities across the country.

Well recognised in South America, the federation realised international championships in Paraguay for Muay Thai and kickboxing in 2009, 2011, 2010 and 2013. It has also hosted a national MMA championships as well as more than twenty Amateur and Professional MMA events. With the support of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, the federation has been responsible for the organisation of dedicated MMA seminars and education around the sport.
