It was this evening announced that UKMMA veteran Peter Irving (14-8-1) has stepped into replace undefeated Made4TheCage European light heavyweight champion and Irving Knox Vale Tudo team mate Richy Knox (4-0) on this Saturday’s Made4TheCage 11 Destruction Fight Card.
Knox was forced to withdraw from his scheduled title defense against Hardlife MMA’s Thomas Denham (6-4) due to a Kidney Infection.
With Made4TheCages matchmakers desperately looking for a replacement and with the event only a few days away Richy’s coach Irving stepped up to fill the void, despite having not competed in an mixed martial arts contest in almost two years and that was at welterweight. Irving will also be at a considerable weight disadvantage against his bigger opponent.
When asked about his upcoming fight Irving said: “It’s my pleasure, it’s the name of mine and Richy’s academy at stake. We don’t let the people down” Pete who usually fights at Welterweight will be given a substantial weight difference away but what he gives away in weight he makes up in experience and said “If nothing else I’m a survivor! I’m feeling such a thrill about fighting again, I just love it”
