Rumors have surfaced this evening that former Strikeforce champion, Alistair Overeem will make his return at UFC 164 on August 31st.
The story was first reported at MMAJunkie.com who received the news via sources close to the situation, although those sources could not confirm the identity of his opponent.
The Reem was originally scheduled to face former UFC heavyweight champion, Junior dos Santos at this month’s UFC 160 but the British born, Dutch striker was replaced by Mark Hunt, due to a shoulder injury he sustained in training.
Overeem will look to bounce back from his devastating 3rd round KO loss at the hands of Antonio “Big Foot” Silva at UFC 156 in February.
