A BAMMA representative has informed MMA Plus that Channel 5 will not be featuring this weekend’s London card, however that is not necessarily the case for all future events with negotiations assumed to be ongoing.
Revealed today by the UKMMA promotion: BAMMA 15 will be carried live on ESPN3 from the UK’s iconic Copper Box Arena on 5th April, as London’s Olympic Park re-opens to the public.
ESPN3 is ESPN’s live multi-screen sports network available to more than 85 million U.S. homes nationwide at no addition cost to fans who receive their high-speed Internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated service provider. It is accessible online at WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app and streamed on televisions through ESPN on Xbox LIVE to Gold members, Apple TV and Roku. The network is also accessible at no cost to approximately 21 million college students and U.S.-based military personnel via computers, smartphones and tablets connected to on-campus educational and on-base military broadband and Wi-Fi networks.
BAMMA’s Managing Director, Ashley Bothwell, said:
“We’re elated about this deal which sees European MMA’s reach extended on the other side of the Atlantic and we’re honoured to be working with such a leading sports brand as ESPN. There’s so much talent coming up through the ranks in the UK and in Europe, and BAMMA fighters are risk-takers renowned for bringing the fight and leaving it all on the line. BAMMA is all about exciting, entertaining match-ups between dedicated and passionate athletes, and favours colourful personalities. ESPN’s American fight fans will now get to enjoy the very British flavour of MMA that BAMMA brings.”
Furthermore, BAMMA 15 is to be streamed live from London’s Copper Box Arena this Saturday 5th April, giving both UK and international fans worldwide the opportunity to watch BAMMA live for the first time on Facebook.
The preliminaries stream live globally from 19:00pm GMT; while the main card will be exclusively streamed in the UK and to countries with no current BAMMA TV deal, extending the promotion’s reach into new territories.
The BAMMA 15 main card will broadcast on the following international television channels between 21:00 GMT and 23:00 GMT: ESPN3 in the US, KIX in Asia, Abu Dhabi TV in the Middle East, The Fight Network in Canada, Extreme Sports Channel in Europe, Setanta in Africa, Sony in Russia and Transylvania Media In Romania. Please check regional TV listings for further information.
