Michael Bisping has taken to Twitter to show off the damaged eye that has forced him out of this month’s clash with Mark Munoz at UFC Fight Night 30 in Manchester.

Bisping had to have surgery on his right eye after suffering a detached retina and has oft compared himself to The Avengers’ Nick Fury as he’s been forced to wear an eyepatch while it recovers.

On Sunday though, the Manchester born star showed off his bloodshot and light sensitive right eye via his Instagram account.

Bisping was due to fight his first fight in the UK for three years at Fight Night 30 but now he’s been replaced by former light heavyweight champion, Lyoto Machida, who drops to middleweight.

‘The Count’ has apologised to the fans after pulling out of the bout saying on Twitter: “Words cannot describe how sad I am having to withdraw from my fight. My sincere apologies to evry1 who bought tickets. I will be back soon. I apologise to the UFC, to Munoz and to everyone who bought tickets.”

The injury puts a further dent into his plans for a middleweight title shot. A loss to Vitor Belfort in January saw him denied when at the cusp of an opportunity. A win over Alan Belcher has led to Bisping saying he’s now just two fights from a title shot “in a perfect world.”
