It has been announced this morning that rising UFC star ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor’s (14-2) injury was worse than originally feared. The featherweight has been ruled out for up to 10 months after suffering a tear to his anterior cruciate ligament, a strain to his medial collateral ligament, and a maniacal tear of his posterior horn.

UFC President Dana White broke the news to FOX Sports Live.

It was originally believed that the Irishman would only be out for up to four to six weeks and it had been rumored that he would either feature on the UFC fight night 30 card in Manchester on October 26th or on a Vegas card later in the year.

This unfortunate news has temporarily derailed a promising start to the UFC career of this exciting featherweight, after McGregor won KOTN honors by TKOing Marcus Brimage in 67 seconds on his debut at UFC on Fuel TV 9, in Stockholm, Sweden this past April.

In his last appearance at last Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 26 at the TD Garden in Boston, McGregor outclassed fellow featherweight prospect Max Holloway, winning via Unanimous decision.

Despite the said news, McGregor was still at his witty best, sending his UFC featherweight counterparts the following message via Twitter:

“I celebrate adversity. Congratulations. Your favourite fighter is safe. For 10 months. #AintNothing I’ll do it on my back. EASY!!!!”

MMAPLUS would like to wish Conor McGregor a speedy recovery.
