Contender promotions has successfully launched UK talent to the SuperKombat World GP stages
, With the event now complete; we have some ‘New Heroes’ ready to make their name on the world stage.
April 4th proved again that Teesside’s Contender Promotions, brought to you by Garry Bell, is bringing the very best in stand up fight entertainment to the UK. After hosting the tryouts in association with SuperKombat, and sponsored by Booster Fight Gear, Garry is now looking to proceed with a huge event later this year. Fighters were put through pad work, power tests using Strikemate technology, and sparring sessions to showcase their skills. Contender Promotions is looking to invite some of the tryout fighters back for elimination fights on our July 19th event, those included are Connor Long, Anas Mounir and Fabrice Mason to name a few.
Following on from the Tryouts, Contender Promotions and SuperKombat would like to congratulate the following fighters;
We had 2 female fighters who gave it everything they had in a hugely male dominated tryout, Jess Mawby and Kennedy Freeman. Kennedy will now proceed through to a SK New Heroes event later this year. Joining her at this event will be Local champion Thomas Daniel, Thomas has been looking to shine on the fight scene for years and now has a real opportunity to show what he has in his armory.
With some outstanding talent on display, two fighters put on a show all of their own, and were offered the chance to proceed straight to SK World GP.
Jamie Bates and Micky Terrill were personally picked by Garry Bell, president of Contender Promotions and Eduard Irimia, president of SuperKombat, to fight on the WGP series. Jamie and Micky were both overwhelmed by the opportunity and are really looking forward to showing what the UK can bring to a World Grand Prix event. These four fighters where also awarded with a kitbag of goodies from Booster Fight Gear and a ton of freebies from SK.
