It’s no secret that UFC on Fox often brings out the very best UFC match making, and UFC president Dana White has today announced a mouth watering headliner for UFC on Fox 12, with hard nosed sluggers Robbie Lawler (23-10-1NC) and Matt Brown (19-11) set to headline the bill in San Jose, California, at the SAP Center on July 26.

On May 10, Brown took on Brazil’s Erick Silva in a UFC Fight Night headliner; ‘The Immortal’ claimed a third round TKO, his seventh consecutive win since 2011, and pounded out Silva in what was one of the highlight bouts of this year so far. Brown’s last seven victories have seen six out of seven scalps claimed by way of KO/TKO, and a third straight Fight of the Night award accompanying his victory over Silva.

Injury cancelled out what would have been the biggest fight of Brown’s career so far – against former interim UFC Welterweight Champion, Carlos Condit last December. Now, Brown finds himself once again paired with a top contender, this time in the form of ‘Ruthless’ Robbie Lawler – a former welterweight title challenger whose reputation may be even more fearsome than that of Brown’s.

At UFC 171 on March 15, Lawler fell short having gone the distance in a five-round war with Johny Hendricks for the vacant 175lb crown. Most recently, he bounced back with the nineteenth knockout win of his career by finishing Jake Ellenberger in the third round, and without mercy at UFC 173 on May 24.

Also on the highlight card will be the reinvented light-heavyweight juggernaut Anthony Johnson taking on Anotnio Rogerio Nogueria, and Josh Thomson vs Michael Johnson in a battle of top lightweight contenders in search of a championship opportunity.
