The UFC have announced that Yorkshire’s Danny Mitchell (14-5) will make his second UFC appearance at UFC 173 in Las Vegas on Memorial Day weekend, taking on Chinese debutant Jinglian Li (8-2) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Danny ‘The Cheesecake Assassin’ Mitchell made his UFC debut earlier this month at UFC Fight Night in London on March.8. Following an entertaining bout, Mitchell lost a unanimous decision to Igor Araujo of Brazil.
Fighting out of China Top Team alongside UFC veteran Tiequan Zhang, Jingliang ‘The Leech’ Li boasts 5 submissions and 1 KO/TKO finish among 8 career wins, in contrast to Mitchell’s total of 9 subs and 3 KO/TKO’s in 14 victories. Li is another fighter to make the jump following an impressive run in Russia’s Legend Fighting Championship where he massed a 5-2 record, his fellow Legend FC veteran and welterweight contender Alexander Yakovlev also joined the UFC following victory over Paul Daley in Moscow back in Nov. 2013.
