ACB 47: Braveheart Poster

Highly touted Scottish prospect Calum Murrie will face England’s Josh Abraham at ACB 47, October 1 at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow.

The Featherweights will collide at ‘ACB 47: Braveheart‘, with Murrie (7-1 amateur) making his professional MMA debut after a very successful amateur career, collecting four submissions in his seven wins.

Fighting out of Higher Level MMA, Murrie has made a very promising name for himself on the amateur circuit. He holds wins over Chris Rees Academy fighter Scott Pedersen and 2015 IMMAF European quarter-finalist, Iceland’s Bjarki Omarsson.

With the chance to make his pro debut on one of the biggest stages in Scottish MMA history, Murrie finds himself in a rare position to catapult his career from his own backyard.

“ACB are committed to showcasing the best in MMA talent from the established stars to the best young talent,” commented a spokesperson from ACB.

“For ACB 47 we were keen to showcase some of Scotland’s up and coming stars and Murrie is certainly one of them. It’s a pleasure to give such a talented young fighter the opportunity to debut as a pro on this show and to walk out into the Hydro Arena in front of his fellow countrymen. He has a tough fight against the very dangerous Abraham so we will see if he can rise to the occasion.”

Opponent Abraham will make the trip from Sunderlandand will likely bring strong support from the North East. Similar to Murrie, the Roker Rough House man holds strong amateur experience having fought on both Cage Warriors Fighting Championship and BAMMA.

Abraham has made a good start to his pro career with a record of 3-1. In his last fight, it took the North East fighter less than a minute to finish opponent Josh Calloway in an effortless display.

The bout offers a clear stylistic difference, with Murrie prominent on the ground and Abraham a preferred striker.

With an already stacked card which includes Robert Whiteford vs. Kevin Petshi and Danny Mitchell vs. Jake Bostwick, ACB 47 is definitely shaping up as the potential UKMMA show of the year.

Tickets are still available for ACB 47 in Glasgow via Ticketmaster.
