UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre will end weeks of speculation about his future on Friday.
According to Le Journal De Montreal, GSP will address the media from his home province of Quebec, Canada at a special press conference.
‘Rush’ prompted speculation from all corners of the MMA world on November 16, when he hinted he may step away from the sport in the aftermath of his controversial decision victory over Johnny Hendricks. GSP admitted there was ‘a lot of stuff going on’ after the bout and he might have to go away from the sport ‘for a little bit at least’. However, when pressed on the issue at the post-fight press conference he did not elaborate on his statements. UFC president Dana White then put a stop to reporters’ questions, prompting a tide of speculation about the champion’s future.
The press conference does not appear to have been organised by the UFC so an announcement of a rematch with ‘Big Rig’ seems unlikely. We’ll just have to wait until friday to find out for sure.
