Georges St-Pierre’s cryptic post-fight interview has got the whole MMA world guessing, but one website claims it has the scoop on what was behind it.
After controversially defending his welterweight championship against Johny Hendricks on Saturday night, the Canadian dropped a bomb on Joe Rogan:
“Listen everyone there was a lot of talk about what’s going to happen,” he said.
“I have a bunch of stuff that is in my life happening and I need to hang up my gloves for a little bit at least make a point on my life and I hope my fans appreciate it.”
Rogan followed up by asking if GSP was retiring, and he replied with this.
“I have to go away for a little bit at least and I want… personal things happening.”
Later on at the post-fight press conference the Canadian offered this insight:
“I’m going crazy. I have issues, man. I need to relax. I need to get out for a while. I don’t know what I’m going to do.”
Dana White was not willing to go into detail about the extent of his 170lb champ’s issues after speaking with him, but Los Angeles based gossip site TMZ, claims it has the answer:
“Georges St-Pierre will take a break from the UFC to handle 2 major personal crises — his father is dying and he got a woman pregnant and doesn’t want her to have the baby … TMZ Sports has learned,” their report said.
“Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ Sports … Georges’ dad is dying and it’s derailed him.
“And there’s this … GSP recently learned he knocked up a woman — and he doesn’t want to have a baby with her but she insists on keeping it.”
A report on bloodyelbow.com claims GSP’s sister Myriam has denied rumours of her father’s health, but did not deny the other rumour.
Whatever the issues for ‘Rush’, the UFC, Dana White, fans and Johny Hendricks will all be hoping they are not serious enough to prevent a quick rematch of the hotly debated UFC 167 main event.
