Having signed with the UFC back in July, undefeated mixed martial artist and former world champion boxer Holly Holm is now set to make her debut in the world’s leading MMA promotion on Dec. 6 versus Raquel Pennington at UFC 181 – headlined by Johny Hendricks vs. Robbie Lawler in a rematch for the world welterweight championship.
With an undefeated 7-0 record in MMA, Holm also brings her well publicized boxing career to the table, boasting multiple world championships including WBC and WBA crowns, as well as several other world title reigns and a record of 33-2-3. In addition, ‘The Preacher’s Daughter’ also has experience in professional kickboxing evident in her MMA exploits with a series of TKO wins via leg kicks, kicks to the body, and head kicks.
The 32-year-old is ranked #15 in the women’s bantamweight division, and trains at the renown Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA in Albuquerque, New Mexico alongside the likes of UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones, furthermore she is one of very few contenders who fans believe may have the potential to dethrone UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion and Olympic Judo medalist Ronda Rousey.
In contrast, 26-year-old Pennington (4-4), ranked #14, has made two appearances in the UFC Octagon. As a TUF veteran the Colorado native made her promotional debut at The Ultimate Fighter Season 18 Finale with a unanimous decision victory over Roxanne Modafferi before dropping a split-decision loss most recently against Brazilian Jessica Andrade at UFC 171 in March.
