Ilir Latifi will return to action in his home country of Sweden three months after swiftly dispatching of Chris Dempsey with a thunderous KO at UFC Fight Night in Dublin on July 19. Latifi (pictured) will face off against Poland’s Jan Blachowicz in Stockholm on October 4.
Latifi (9-3) is quickly making a name for himself as a monster in the UFC light-heavyweight division, ‘The Sledgehammer’ barely broke a sweat and made light work of Dempsey in addition to over powering Cyrille Diabate in London after losing his UFC debut with a hardy performance against Gegard Mousasi where the Swede stepped in to replace team mate Alexander Gustafsson on extremely short notice back in April of 2013.
Blachowicz (17-3) will be making his first UFC appearance as a veteran of major Warsaw based promotion KSW. The BJJ brown belt won the KSW light-heavyweight crown in 2011 in a rematch with UFC and PRIDE veteran Rameau Thierry Sokoujou, and has since defended it twice against UFC veteran’s Houston Alexander and Goran Relic with a non-title victory over UFC veteran Mario Miranda.
An excited Latifi posted on Instagram that he expects the Swedish audience to emulate that of Dublin’s famous crowd who rocked The O2 on July 19.
“It’s official Oct 4 UFC Stockholm Globen I’m fighting Jan Blachowicz … It’s going to be a great night with a lot of great fights! I promise that the crowd in Stockholm is going to blow the roof! More then the crowd in Dublin! Who is going to be there!”
