Charismatic contender ‘Filthy’ Tom Lawlor has sadly been forced out of a scheduled light-heavyweight bout against Ilir Latifi with less than three weeks until UFC Fight Night at The O2 in Dublin, Ireland on April 19.
First reported by MMAJunkie.com, it’s understood that the promotion are seeking a replacement opponent for Sweden’s Latifi.
Lawlor (9-5-1NC) was expected to make his return having suffered a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus in the process of dramatically claiming a submission victory over Michael Kuiper in Stockholm, Sweden on April 6, 2013.
Latifi (8-3-1NC) made his UFC debut on just a few day’s notice on the same card in Stockholm, stepping in himself as a repalcement opponent to face former Strikeforce Champion Gegard Mousasi. Latifi was soundly beaten and handed a unanimous decision loss, but ‘The Sledgehammer’ returned at UFC Fight Night in London on March 8 where he overpowered Cyrille Diabate in the first round with a Guillotine Choke submission.
