The undefeated ‘Italian Stallion’ Pietro Menga took his record to 12-0 on Saturday, Aug.2 at BAMMA Fight Night in Liverpool. Menga claimed his tenth career finish and eighth submission with victory over Steve McCombe via arm-bar in the second round.
Having enjoyed taking control of the opening stanza, Menga finished the fight early in round-two to maintain his perfect record. Later that night, Menga cornered his team mate Rany Saadeh in the co-main event where Saadeh (7-1) claimed the BAMMA World Flyweight Championship with a decision victory over Jody Collins. Despite having faced off once before with Menga taking the victory, both him and Saadeh have since become good friends and insist they will not face off for the flyweight crown, that is unless the price is right. Menga revealed that he’s now eyeing up the UFC flyweight ranks, and while it’s currently unknown as to if he’s bound for the world’s top 125lb division in the very near future, UFC Fight Night in Stockholm, Sweden on October 4 would be his card of choice. Menga also stated that it “Wouldn’t be a surprise” if he was to appear in the lineup.
