A mouth watering lightweight title match-up between Team CrossFace’s Charlie Leary (6-5) and Bandog MMA’s Jamaine “The Pain” Facey (10-8) has been set for UCMMA 36.

UCMMA fan favourite Facey returns to action after serving a 1 fight suspension, following a post fight scuffle with members of his defeated opponent Jorden “Good Night” Wright’s corner team, in scenes that put a black mark on an otherwise outstanding performance in the UK1 lightweight title fight (see fight below) which took place at UCMMA 33.

Facey exclusively told MMAPLUS: It was only a matter of time before I got a shot at the lightweight title, but to me its just another fight and another belt to add to the collection. Wearing two belts will feel really good.

When speaking about his opponent, Team CrossFace’s Leary, Facey said:

Charlie is a great fighter, we are kind of the same build and have the same kind of tools in our arsenal. Charlie is a tricky customer although I believe I have the slight edge in the striking department.

Facey said of his fighting style:

I always try to put on exciting fights, no matter the outcome and this fight will be no exception as we are both great fighters.

Leary is a well-round fighter who has only tasted defeat once in his last 5 outings, and will look to build upon his recent run of good form which saw him pick up a 3rd round triangle choke submission win over the durable Ben McGonigle at last Saturday’s UCMMA 35.

UCMMA 36 will take place on Saturday, October 5th at London’s Troxy.
