Amidst an epidemic of domestic abuse in the NFL, it seemed that Anthony Johnson (18-4) was just caught up in the storm after the UFC were forced to suspend the Light-Heavyweight after similar allegations were filed against him.

The UFC have a zero tolerance policy on these matters and were forced to suspend Johnson indefinitely; well until the court proceedings are over, and pending results of a third party investigation, brought forward by the UFC.

Johnson’s manager, Glenn Robinson, Johnson’s manager, stated on UFC Tonight that Rumble has his hearing at the end of October, however he is “optimistic” things will turn out well.

There were claims from UFC President Dana White that before the company suspended Johnson there were plans in place for him to fight Alexander Gustafsson in a title eliminator. The Swede was originally schedule for a rematch with Jon Jones at UFC 180, however injuries have subsequently led to Daniel Cormier getting the next crack on January 3.

Since his return from World Series of Fighting this year, “Rumble” has gained notable wins over Phil Davis and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, and thus re-branding himself as a monster inside the octagon. This has led to the Johnson being ranked number five in the divisional rankings.
