Having confirmed the news with MMAFighting.com, Ted Ehrhardt – manager of newly crowned UFC Welterweight Champion Johny Hendricks – revealed that ‘Big Rig’ defeated Robbie Lawler at UFC 171 on Saturday night with a torn bicep and fractured shin.

It’s understood that Hendricks will undergo surgery for his torn bicep on Monday, and will give further details to the media on Wednesday. However, Ehrhardt revealed that Hendricks suffered the initial injury approximately two weeks before fighting for the vacant UFC Welterweight Championship on March 8. Despite the injury, Hendricks chose not to withdraw, and once again heard it pop during the first round of his 25-minute war with Lawer. Furthermore, the new champion also suffered a hairline shin fracture in the opening round en-route to a unanimous decision victory at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Should surgery and rehab go as planned, it’s reported that Hendricks can resume training in two months.
