Just days after an injured Jose Aldo dominated title challenger Chan Sung Jung, Ricardo Lamas has stated that he wants to be the next in line for a tile fight, and he doesn’t mind waiting until next year for his shot.

Aldo’s (24-1) fourth-round TKO of ‘The Korean Zombie’ came at a price, as he broke his right foot with the first kick of the fight. Despite the early injury, his victory marked his 23rd in a row, and reignited calls for the Brazilian to ascend to 155lbs.

Lamas’ (13-2) push for a title shot against Aldo comes after finishing highly-ranked Erik Koch in January. He’s undefeated in four fights, which included wins over Cub Swanson and Hatsu Hioki, but ‘The Bully’ will probably have to wait until next year to compete for the 145lb strap even if he’s guaranteed the fight, while he waits for Aldo to come off the injury shelf.
