Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida (19-4) has made the drop to 185lbs, and will face Tim Kennedy (16-4) at UFC ‘Fight for the Troops’ on November 6, at Fort Campbell U.S. Army Installation in Kentucky. UFC president Dana White revealed the bout on Fox Sports Live this past Wednesday.
Machida (pictured) most recently suffered a decision loss in his home nation of Brazil, falling short by unanimous decision to Phil Davis following consecutive wins over Ryan Bader, and MMA legend Dan Henderson. The 35-year-old is currently 3-3 in the UFC since losing the light-heavyweight crown in 2010.
‘The Dragon’ faces Tim Kennedy on Nov.6, a U.S. Military veteran who most recently out grappled BJJ master Roger Gracie for a unanimous decision at UFC 162 in July. Prior to joining the UFC, Kennedy competed in Strikeforce, and holds victories over notable opponents such as Melvin Manhoef and Robbie Lawler, having challenged twice for the Strikeforce middleweight title against Ronaldo Souza and Luke Rockhold, however came up on the scorecords on both occasions.
