Alongside Nandor Guelmino and David Mitchell, long time UFC veteran Matt ‘The Hammer’ Hamill (11-5) has reportedly been released from the promotion in the latest string roster cuts. All three fighter’s profiles having been removed from UFC.com.

Hamill made his UFC debut in just his second MMA bout, finishing Jesse Forbes by way of TKO at The Ultimate Fighter 3 Finale. A TUF veteran and freestyle wrestling gold medallist from the 2001 Deaflympics, Hamill’s success in overcoming his disability resulted in a film based on his life (The Hammer).

The light-heavyweight holds victories over the likes of Tim Boetsch, Seth Petruzelli, Mark Munoz, Jon Jones (DQ), Keith Jardine and Titio Ortiz, with losses to Michael Bisping, Rich Franklin and Quinton Jackson. A TKO loss to Alexander Gustafsson in August, 2011 saw Hamill retire from the sport, only to return a year later with victory over Roger Hoillett. Most recently, the 37-year-old lost a unanimous decision to Thiago Silva at UFC Fight Night on October 9.
