Frankie Edgar made the move to featherweight this year to look for fresh challenges.

However, he’s been matched up with BJ Penn for a third time already and now Gray Maynard is making noises about securing a fourth fight with ‘The Answer’.

‘The Bully’ scored a wide decision win over Edgar in 2008, but could only draw with him on New Year’s Day 2011 after dominating the first round.

The rivals followed the fight of the year with another amazing contest nine months later, but this time Edgar won by KO.

Maynard told USA Today he would consider a drop in weight class to finally settle the score.

“I sure as hell would try,” he said.

“I wouldn’t be there for good, but I would be there for that fight.

“It just goes back to that in my mind, it’s all even.

“I don’t want it to end like that.

“He got the last one, but I don’t want it to end like that.

“If he beats me two out of three times, then alright. But we’ll see.”

Maynard is considered to be one of the bigger lightweights around and would have a tough test to drop to 145 pounds, but it seems like he will try anything to get one more crack at Edgar.

The AKA fighter has the conclusion of a different trilogy to contend with first when he fights Nate Diaz at The Ultimate Fighter Finale on Saturday.

If he can get the better of the Stockton native then he can set his sights on rematching his bête noire.
