MMA fans may not have to wait as long as originally thought for the return of the man known as the “Dream Catcher” to make his return to the octagon.

Speaking today on MMAjunkie radio, the UFC’s #9 ranked light heavyweight Gegard Mousasi (34-3-2) revealed that he is likely to compete again sooner then anticipate and should be ready to go by November or December this year. It was originally thought that Mousasi would not be able to compete before the first few months of 2014 at the earliest.

When speaking about his injury, Mousasi said:

“I’m planning on the recovery, but I’m planning to enjoy life a little bit. In the past, I’ve always been training, always about the sport. Once you have this injury, you discover other stuff. I plan on having a good time.”

Despite a long standing torn ACL injury, Mousasi still managed to decision Ilir Latifi in his debut at UFC Fuel TV 9 in Stockholm, Sweden.

With Mousasi now officially on the road to recover, it appears that his thoughts have again turned to a potential move down a division, after asking fight fans via twitter their thoughts on if he should make the move down to middleweight last month.

“I believe if I go to 185 I’ll be much stronger,”.” At the highest level, you don’t want to give any advantage. If you look at Jon Jones, you don’t want to fight a guy that’s very talented, has the skills, and also has the strength. Then you give too much advantage away.”

Mousasi has in the past enjoyed success at both 185lbs and 205lbs winning DREAM 2008 Middleweight Grand Prix, the Cage Warriors Middleweight Championship in 2006 and, competed in the PRIDE 2006 Welterweight Grand Prix and will look to continue this impressive form that has only seen him taste defeat on two occasion in his MMA career.
