Full Contact Contender (FCC) has confirmed the withdrawal of #3-ranked UK flyweight Pietro Menga from his FCC Professional Flyweight Title bout against Jody Collins at FCC8. Initial reports indicate that a back injury has forced the Liverpool MMA Academy fighter to withdraw from the event. The promotion hopes to have Menga back for their first card of 2014, and wishes him a speedy recovery in the meantime.

Moving up into the main event slot for FCC 8 on November 2nd is a middleweight clash between #10-ranked UK middleweight Luke Chadwick and Manchester’s Alex Minogue. The contest is set to crown the promotion’s first ever professional middleweight champion. The bout was verbally agreed last week, and can now be confirmed by the promotion.

SBG’s Alex Minogue (6-4) recently returned to the cage at FCC 7, earning a second round TKO win over Dez Parker. The former Wolfslair Academy fighter will now make a rapid turn-around, stepping back in the FCC cage just 8 weeks later to face Liverpool’s Lee ‘The Butcher’ Chadwick in the evening’s main event.

Chadwick (17-10) in currently ranked #10 in the UK’s 185lb division, and comes into the bout riding a six fight winning streak, with notable victories over Deniston Sutherland and Valentino Petrescu. Like Minogue, we was most recently in action in September, submitting Yvan Sorel in the first round.

Promoter Adam Teh said: “We’re gutted to lose a great fight like Menga vs Collins, but injuries are a part of the sport. We wish Pietro a full and speedy recovery, and hope to have him back on FCC in the not too distant future.”

“Alex put on a great performance at FCC 7, and we’re delighted he wanted to get back in the cage so quickly. Lee is a top 10 domestic middleweight, so it makes sense that the pair should lock horns for the right to be called FCC’s first ever middleweight champion. Lee is a powerhouse at 185, while Minogue has one of the strongest ‘never say die’ attitudes in the sport. It’s got all the ingredients for a fascinating fight, and could potentially shake up the UK rankings!”

FCC’s second birthday party, FCC 8, takes place in the Premier Suite at Bolton’s Reebok Stadium on November 2nd, 2013, with highlights to be broadcast on Sky’s MyChannel as a later date.
