Renan Barao’s will defend his UFC bantamweight championship against team alpha male’s TJ Dillashaw and serves as the replacement main event for UFC 173 per USA Today.


Dillashaw is 9-2 (5-1 in the UFC) and is coming off an amazing performance where he put on an a clinic against Mike Easton in a bout he won by unanimous decision.


Barao continues his amazing streak where he is undefeated in 33 bouts and still only has one loss on his record (33-1-1 NC) and his coming off a TKO victory over Dillashaw’s team mate Urijah Faber last month at UFC 169.
This new main event replaces Chris Weidman vs Lyoto Machida which has been scheduled now for UFC 175 on July 5th due to Weidman needing minor knee surgery.


UFC 173 takes place on May 24 2014 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
