Injury has ruled Dutch striker Valentijn Overeem (30-28) out of his planned clash with Mike Kyle (19-9) at Championship Fighting Alliance 11, on May 24 at the Bank United Center in Coral Gables, Florida.

The brother of UFC heavyweight contender Alistair Overeem sustained a rib injury which has resulted in opponent Mike Kyle now being scheduled to face Travis Wiuff (68-17) who has stepped in to replace Overeem with only 2 weeks notice.

Popular news show “Inside MMA” were first to break the news on Friday.

This news will be yet another blow to Valentijn, who hasn’t had the best of luck recently, having lost 4 fights on the bounce and was looking to get back to winning ways against Kyle.

This new fight will be the second time that Kyle and Wiuff have met as the two mixed martial artists previously clashed at King of the Cage in February 2010 however, Kyle landed a punch after the bell, resulting in referee Herb Dean stopping the bout with the result being declared a no-contest. This fight will be a chance for both fighters to settle this old score.

CFA 11 also features controversial transgender fighter Fallon Fox who features in our fights to watch in May and is set to meet Allana Jones in the co-main event in a women’s featherweight tournament semifinal fight.
