Japanese promotion Shoot Boxing has revealed more details about their next female edition in July.

The event is scheduled for Tokyo Dome Hall on July 7, and is called Girls S-Cup. Shoot Boxing announced the news today at their press conference, including the opponents for their two biggest stars, Rena Kubota and Mio Tsunuma.

Making a rematch from the December 2015 Rizin Fighting Federation event, Rena faces Giorgio Petrosiyan’s teammate, Jleana Valentino.

In their first encounter at Rizin World Grand-Prix 2015: Part 2 – Iza, Kubota made her MMA debut, winning by armbar in the second round but this time, Valentino has a chance to redeem herself through the S-Cup; which is a model of stand-up fights which include throws.

The promotion have garnered much respect in Japan, funded by Caesar Takeshi, having built themselves around top star Rena Kubota, who has claimed the Girls S-Cup flyweight title in 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2014.

At last year’s event, Rena retained her Shoot Boxing women’s flyweight championship, beating Poland’s Klaudia Pawicka by unanimous decision.

Gabi Garcia makes her first standup fight in Japan, former opponent of Rena returns

Another S-Cup debut is penned in for July, as multiple-time BJJ champion, Brazilian heavyweight Gabi Garcia makes her debut in standup competition.

With no opponent announced yet, Shoot Boxing has made a deal with Rizin Federation to allow Gabi to compete on the event, for the first time outside BJJ and MMA.

Garcia holds four victories in MMA, included a TKO win against Seini Draghan called Lei D’Tapa and Yumiko Hotta, last December.

Also on the event, from Poland, Hanna “Tyson” Gujwan will make her debut in Shoot Boxing. The 25-year-old fighter represents the Ladies Fight Night Polish MMA event and made a good impression against Rena Kubota at Rizin. She now gets to show off her aggressive standup style against Rena’s team partner, Mio Tsunuma.
