Scottish Featherweight Robert Whiteford (10-2) is set to face Daniel Pineda (18-10) at UFC 171, which is set to go down on 15th March at Dallas’ American Airlines Center.
The Dinky Ninja/American Top Team fighter will look to get back to winning ways after being on the wrong end of a 2nd round triangle choke loss against Jim Hettes on his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 30 in Manchester, England this past October. Before the loss the Scotsman had been on a 10-fight win streak until his 11th hour call up to the worlds No.1 mixed martial arts promotion put an end to a streak that had seen him defeat a number of European standouts such as Liam James, Paul Reed and Martin Svensson.
Whiteford’s opponent Pineda who has gone 1-3 in his last 4 UFC fights is also looking to bounce back from a unanimous decision defeat at the hands of TUF 14 winner Diego Brandao at UFC Fight Night 26.
