A fight between women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey (10-0) and No.1 contender Cat Zingano (9-0) has been set for UFC 182 according to UFC president Dana White.

The announcement which was originally made on UFC Tonight by Ariel Helwani and subsequently confirmed by White and will see the 2008 Olympic judo bronze medalist Rousey defend her 135lbs title for the sixth time when she faces the Alpha Cat.

Her opponent Zingano originally earned a crack at the women bantamweight title after defeating Miesha Tate at the Ultimate Fighter Season 17 finale before a double knee injury sidelined her until last month when she returned with an impressive comeback win against Amanda Nunes at UFC 178, a fight in which she had to weather a stormy 1st round before rally back to stop her Brazilian opponent.

UFC 182 takes place on 3rd January 2015, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will feature the main event that pits UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones against 2-time Olympian Daniel Cormier.
