Sunderland’s Ross Pearson (15-7-1NC) recently spoke with MMAJunkie.com, and expressed his interest in facing Diego Sanchez (25-7) for a second time in a rematch following Sanchez’s highly criticized victory via the judges scorecards at UFC Fight Night on June 7 that took place in Sanchez’s home town of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
“We’d put on a good fight for the fans,” said Pearson, who traveled to Sanchez’s hometown of Albuquerque for the first meeting. “I’d definitely like to do (the rematch) in my hometown. It makes sense. The fans would definitely like to see it.
“If the UFC wanted to do that, then definitely, let’s do it. I’ve got nothing against Diego.”
Pearson lost shockingly at the hands of the judges who gifted a split-decision win to the New-Mexico native, of which sparked a huge amount of scrutiny.
Following the bout, Pearson took out an appeal against the decision, however the New-Mexico Athletic Commission ruled that the decision would remain. Thankfully, the UFC awarded Pearson his bonus and UFC president Dana White stated that the fighter will progress as if he had won the contest.
