Tonight Stuart Austin walked away the victor in his promotional debut under the EFC banner at EFC 61 at the Super Bowl Sun City.

Prior tonight’s bout the British Heavyweight signed for the South African promotion holding a professional record of 11-3 before walking away with a unanimous decision victory over fan favourite Elvis Moyo.

In a slow first round, Moyo had clear control of the cage, stalking Austin as he looked to unwind and land with heavy hands. The former Bellator and BAMMA man looked to pick his strikes and utilised leg and body kicks to keep his opponent at bay.

After an even first round, Austin looked to take control of the bout as he secured the first takedown of the fight. After landing strikes from side control and then half guard “He Man” looked to take the back of his opponent, however this was to no avail as Moyo used excellent wrist control to limit Austin to a few heavy strikes.

Going into the third round, the 28-year old Brit showed his athleticism by unleashing a flying knee at his opponent.

The South African began to apply pressure once again before connecting with a right hook which knocked the sweat right off of Austin’s forehead.

The Englishman left no doubt in the judges mind however after his persistence paid off landing him his second takedown of the fight.

From here Austin began landing strikes and applying pressure securing full mount again. “He Man” showed his strong base on the game and would prove difficult to shake off.

Despite controlling his opponent, Austin failed to do much damage to his opponent but would do enough to get him off the mark with his first victory in Extreme Fighting Championships.

Elsewhere on the card, heavyweight champion Andrew Van Syl successfully defended his title in an all out war against Wessel Mostert. The 34-year old came back from being rocked in round two and secured a TKO from mount 2.23 of R3.
