At Pride 10, in the year 2000, Japanese MMA icon Kasushi Sakuraba claimed the arm of Renzo Gracie. Sakuraba aka ‘ The Gracie Hunter’, had already defeated both Royce, and Royler Gracie previously, during a time when the Brazilian Gracie clan were an established force in MMA competition. The technical submission came as a result of Sakuraba’s explosive kimura, breaking Renzo’s arm and claiming the win, despite Renzo’s seemingly unfazed reaction and impressive refusal to willingly submit. Respect for Renzo only increased following the result, when the Brazilian took hold of the microphone and thoroughly praised his family’s arch rival.
