On Saturday November 22, 2014; ‘The Road to The Main Event’ will be held at The Village Hotel in Ashton-Under-Lyne, Manchester. Presented by British Muay Thai and kickboxing promotion ‘The Main Event‘, the aim is to showcase many of the up and coming kickboxers in England with a view to a number of these fresh faces featuring on The Main Event ‘super-shows’ in 2015. In addition, several A and B class bouts featuring more established names will be featured.
The Main Event organisers have explained that 90% of the Nov. 22 card has been matched, however the majority of fights will be announced in mid September.
One contest of which has already been revealed is a 70kg A Class bout featuring Sam Jackson (Supergym, Knutsford) vs Mike Egan (Next Gen, Liverpool).
Recently crowned ISKA British Champion Sam Jackson (14-1) is coming off a first round TKO win on The Main Event back in June, and takes on the vastly experienced Mike Egan in one of the show’s headline attractions. WBC National Champion, Egan, who has fought some of the biggest names on the circuit in a career spanning more than 40 fights, will provide a stern test for Sam as he competes under A class rules for the first time. A win would see Jackson climb to #7 in the UK rankings and end a very successful year on a high after three consecutive wins so far, but, as The Main Event’s Phil Shedden explained, Egan is no pushover and is confident he has the experience and skills to come away with the victory.
