The UFC have announced a middleweight contest of British veteran Tom Watson (pictured) vs UFC newcomer Sam Alvey. The fight is currently expected to take place at UFC Fight Night in Bangor, Maine on August 16.
Tom “Kong” Watson (16-7) was last victories back in February of 2013 with a tremendous Fight of the Night TKO win over Stanislav Nedkov. Since then, the former BAMMA World Champion has faced defeat at the hands of Thales Leites at UFC 163 via unanimous decision, and most recently Nick Cantone who snatched a debated split-decision on Feb.1 at UFC 169.
In contrast, Team Quest’s Sam “Smilin'” Alvey (23-5-1NC) will make his first UFC appearance since featuring on The Ultimate Fighter Season 16. A champion of Canada’s Maximum Fighting Championship, the American has produced a current 4-fight win streak featuring three successive knockouts.
