Top British export Tom ‘Kong’ Watson will stand opposite Thales Leites in the octagon on the main card of UFC 163 on August 3.

32-year-old Watson (21-5) became a household name on the British circuit, fighting under BAMMA and capturing the organisation’s middleweight strap. He’s also trained in Canada with the elite fighters at Tristar Gym, which helped him forge his path towards the UFC.

Leites (24-4), 31, has been a contender in the UFC’s 185lb division for almost seven years, and once met Anderson Silva in what turned out to be a one-sided affair. He will certainly hold the experience advantage over Watson, who is 1-1 in the UFC.

This fight has somewhat slipped under the radar of UFC 163, but with Watson’s destructive kickboxing and Leites’ submission pedigree, this encounter certainly has the potential to be a contender for Fight of the Night.
