Less than 24-hours after submitting Mike Pierce in just 31-seconds at UFC Fight Night, and Rousimar Palhares has been cut from the UFC for having delayed his release of a heel-hook after Pierce had submitted to the hold and the referee had stepped in.

UFC president Dana White revealed his no nonsense stance on the matter, when appearing on the latest edition of Olbermann with ESPN’s Jeremy Schaap. Prior to his release, the Brazilian was denied a Submission of the Night bonus for his merciless handiwork.

A repeat offender, ‘Toquinho’ was also suspended for 90-days in 2010 for an almost identical incident where Tomasz Drwal submitted to the very same heel hook submission with just 45-seconds on the clock at UFC 111, however Palhares failed to release the hold immediately after the stoppage.
