UFC executive Garry Cook has been promoted from his role as Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Europe, Middle East and Africa for the UFC, to full UFC Chief Global Officer, first reported by MMAFighting.com.

As the former CEO of Manchester City FC and head of Nike’s “Brand Jordan”, Cook joined the UFC in September of 2012 to help build the brand, and has excelled behind the scenes. The Englishman is often referred to by UFC President Dana White as “A rock star in his industry”, and received notable credit for securing a TV deal with Channel 5 that saw UFC Fight Night: Gustafsson vs Manuwa air on free British terrestrial television for the first time in March.

In contrast, Mark Fischer, Executive Vice President and Managing Director for Asia, has now been released after a four-year stint with the promotion. In that time the UFC produced several events in the Macau region of China in addition to staging The Ultimate Fighter: China, however were unable to stage an event on Chinese mainland, with Fischer having previously worked a similar role for the NBA.
