After an unusual series of events unfolded at UFC 216, heavyweights Mark Godbeer and Walt Harris are slated to once again step in the Octagon with one another; this time on the UFC 217 undercard on November 4 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Earlier this month, Harris and Godbeer were scheduled to fight on the preliminary segment of the UFC 216 card in Las Vegas however Harris was pulled from the bout to serve as a last-minute replacement for Derrick Lewis against Fabricio Werdum in a main card bout. Harris grasped at the opportunity to fight the former heavyweight champion meaning Godbeer was left without an opponent and would no longer fight on the night.

‘The Big Ticket’ was unable to capitalise on the opportunity however as he suffered a 65-second submission loss to the Brazilian, it wasn’t all bad news for Godbeer who was paid his full show and win purse despite not competing.

The loss to Werdum snapped a two-fight winning streak for Harris, who is now 4-3 in his last seven UFC bouts.

Godbeer, 33 enters the bout on the back of a decision victory over then unbeaten fighter Daniel Spitz at UFC 209 back in March; this win saw him bounce back from his unsuccessful UFC debut last November. The former British Association of MMA heavyweight champ failed to make it out the first round finding himself on the receiving end of a choke from Justin Ledet.
