After immense speculation surrounding the future of Shay Walsh and his next opponent, the Lancastrian mixed martial artist has re-signed with BAMMA and will attempt to reclaim the division belt he won versus Ed Arthur in 2015.

Coming off the back of an impressive victory over James McErlean at Bellator 173, Walsh has switched back to the promotion where he rose to prominence.

This announcement comes hot on the heels of the news that Midlander Chris Miah had signed back with the promotion and would make the move to the bantamweight division.

Rumours arose of Alan Philpott being a potential opponent for the 135lb fighter, a fighter that has been persistent in chasing down Walsh over the last couple of years.

However, those rumours were quickly shut down as it was revealed that Philpott would be unable to make the bantamweight threshold by the time Walsh next wants to fight.

Whilst an opponent is yet to be announced for the 28-year-old, BAMMA released an update that further fight news is set to be released on the week of April 10th, it is likely that a fight is set to be announced within the next few days.

Upon signing with BAMMA, Walsh has outlined his exact intentions stating “I’m here to regain my BAMMA world title. Anyone that stands in my way will be run over.”

Walsh confirmed on social media that he will be fighting in Birmingham at the Genting Arena on 12 May 2017.
