A previously cancelled featherweight contest between Paull McBain and Lloyd Manning has been added to next month’s Cage Warriors 82 card in Liverpool.
Fit and healthy once more, Aberdeen, Scotland’s McBain (3-0) will get the chance to make his Cage Warriors debut against another top prospect in Ireland’s Manning (2-0). The fight will take place on the main card of CW82, which takes place in Liverpool on April 1.
Though young in his career, Manning has already competed under the lights of two of the UK’s biggest promotions, in BAMMA and Cage Warriors. Most recently, he defeated Nathan Sparks via TKO at Cage Warriors Unplugged, which took place at the BT Sport studios. At an amateur level, Manning holds a victory over “The SBG Killer” Joe McColgan (2-1).
This fight marks McBain’s first outside of his native Scotland. The ACC Spartans fighter has won each of his professional fights via stoppage, but will fight for the first time in eight months when he competes on what is a somewhat depleted Cage Warriors card.
Though this fight, and indeed, the rescheduled fight between Vaughan Lee and Nathaniel Wood have been added to the card, the lightweight title fight between Chris Fishgold and Jani Salmi will no longer be taking place, due to an injury to the reigning champion, Fishgold. In addition, the fight between Martin Stapleton and Aleksi Mäntykivi has also been cancelled, due to an injury sustained by Stapleton.
The updated Cage Warriors 82 fight card is as follows:
Paddy Pimblett (13-1) vs Nad Narimani (9-2) – Cage Warriors featherweight title (145lbs)
Vaughan Lee (14-12-1) vs Nathaniel Wood (10-4) – bantamweight bout (135lbs)
Dean Trueman (7-3) vs Frantz Slioa (4-0) – featherweight bout (145lbs)
