(London, United Kingdom | Tuesday, September 23, 2014) – Juan Manuel Suarez and Jimmy Wallhead are set to contest a welterweight bout at Cage Warriors 73.

The pair will do battle when Cage Warriors Fighting Championship returns to the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, England, on Saturday, November 1, for what will be the promotion’s twelfth event of 2014.

Suarez and Wallhead will be looking to rebound from their respective losses to Danny Roberts in their most recent CWFC outings, having both fallen short against the Liverpudlian earlier this year.

Wallhead (25-9), a joint-holder of the record for the most number of CWFC appearances (16) along with Jack Mason, returned to Cage Warriors this past March when he signed an exclusive five-fight deal.

His loss to Roberts, which came in the main event at CWFC 68 at Liverpool’s Echo Arena in May, was his first inside the distance in 21 bouts, a run that stretched back as far as 2006.

But the 30-year-old native of Loughborough, who is also a three-fight veteran of top US promotion Bellator, is still ranked as one of the UK’s top five welterweights.

A judo black belt and veteran of 25 professional victories, eighteen of which have come via stoppage, Wallhead holds notable wins over several fighters with UFC experience, including Igor Araujo, Matt Veach, Che Mills and Frank Trigg.

“I’m really excited about getting back in the cage,” said Wallhead. “Suarez is a tough opponent but I’ll be aiming to put on a solid performance and showcase my improving skills.”

Suarez (15-6) made his Cage Warriors Fighting Championship debut this past February at CWFC 64 in London, where he finished on the wrong side of a decision after a thrilling tussle with Danny Roberts.

However, the Spaniard has since picked up two wins on the European regional circuit – including a first-round submission of Cage Warriors veteran Vincent del Guerra – which saw him earn an exclusive five-fight CWFC contract.

An eight-bout veteran of top Russian organisation M-1, 35-year-old Suarez has taken twelve of his fifteen professional career victories by stoppage.

Suarez said: “I’m really happy with this opportunity. On November 1 in Newcastle, I’ll be looking to show everyone why I’m going to be the next CWFC welterweight world champion.”

Cage Warriors 73 will be headlined by the CWFC lightweight world title meeting of defending champion Stevie Ray and challenger Curt Warburton, with many more exciting fights still to be revealed.
