It’s the domestic dream match the fans have been demanding, YOKKAO -70kg champion Jordan Watson will defend his crown against Reece McAllister on October 8.

The Macron, Bolton hosts both YOKKAO 19 and YOKKAO 20 this Autumn, and with this fantastic main event already announced, the rest of the card is surely set to provide equal intrigue.

Not very often, do we see the convergence of two of the country’s pinnacle athletes in Muay Thai. For one reason or another, timing, friendship, money, many domestic dream matches have fallen through the cracks over the years. Greg Wootton vs. Liam Harrison for example, at one time, the most sought after main event in British Thai Boxing – now just a distant dream which missed its calling.

Therefore, to see the announcement from YOKKAO on their Instagram, a promotion which have prided themselves on some tremendous Thai vs. Brit match-ups over the years, is a huge revelation.

After finalising revenge against Sanny Dahlbeck last month, Watson now prepares to take on one of the fastest rising names in Muay Thai. After suffering a nose injury in the fight with Dahlbeck, forcing him out of a clash with legend Giorgio Petrosyan, Watson once again finds himself in the limelight for a world class affair.

With major credit to Watson, he has always shown willingness to fight whomever has been placed in front of him, a real testament to his ability. McAllister, despite a slight setback against Nauze Trujillo, has for the most part, finished guys for fun – which included a demotion of Josh Turbill under the YOKKAO banner.

October of course, is a long time away, six months to be precise. Watson and McAllister will inevitably have fights before then, with the North East’s McAllister set to challenge the internally proven Fabio Pinca next month.

If both men can avoid injuries, arriving into Bolton at their very best, then maybe, just maybe, October 8, Bolton, 2,000 strong in attendence will witness something extremely special and a true proving ground of the gold standard.
