According to a senior official close to the situation negotiations between Bellator and UFC welterweight Lorenz Larkin have come to a halt after both parties were unable to finalise the proposed deal.

The news came after it emerged that the Viacom-owned promotion are set to make a bid for UFC Light Heavyweight Ryan Bader in the coming weeks.

The no 7 ranked welterweight who holds a victory over former UFC champions Robbie Lawler bounced back from his split decision loss to Albert Tumenov at UFC 195 to win his next two UFC fights.

Those wins include a decision victory over Jorge Masvidal and a stoppage over Neil Magny at UFC 202 and it is this currently run of form that has seen Larkin win four of his last five bouts.

During an interview with MMA Plus in November Bellator CEO Scott Coker spoke of the promotions interest in Larkin however mentioned there was financial disagreements to which he hoped to help smooth over.

““I think our guys are talking to him but I think we are a little bit apart on the money and that’s the hold up of why Lorenz hasn’t signed with us yet. I think it’s just a financial thing at the moment, but I’m going to look into it a bit more and see if I can help negotiations along, but I would love to him here. “

30-year-old Larkin recently took to twitter and poked fun at the fact he had climbed from 6th in the UFC official rankings despite his inactivity. Larkin wrote “You want to know how G I am? I moved from #9 to #6 without even fighting.”

‘The Monsoon’ has attracted interest from Rizin FF as well as Bellator within the last month however revealed in an interview with MMAjunkie Radio that no official offers have been made for him.

“It’s not that big of a deal,” he said. “It’s just the time frame of everything. I hope I can get it wrapped up (by the holidays), as long as I know these certain people are going to throw offers.”
