Late notice call-up Talita Oliveira refuses to shy away from the occasion, predicting she will upset the odds with a submission win over Marion Reneau at UFC Fight Night 115.
It is a short notice match-up for Oliveira (4-1), who will make her UFC Octagon debut on Saturday night in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, with less than a week to prepare for the fight.
Reneau, her opponent, was originally slated to face former UFC featherweight champion Germaine de Randamie, but the Dutch fighter was forced out through injury.
As for Oliveira, she’s had a difficult few months. She was scheduled to compete against Alexa Conners at Legacy Fighting Alliance in July, but Oliveira explained — through a translator — that her opponent failed to show up to the weigh ins, forcing the fight to be called off.
She returned to her native Brazil, to continue her training at Império Fight Team, and after a month of uncertainty was awarded the opportunity to feature at the Ahoy Rotterdam on September 2.
Analysing this new match-up, Olivera spoke up her Brazilian jiu-jitsu background, claiming: “I’m a black belt in jiu-jitsu so that will be a submission win for me.”
Reneau, however, has never lost by submission.
Oliveira discussed her upcoming challenge to the media (MMADNA.NL) during UFC Rotterdam media day.
